You are a great congregation. You do so many things well: visits, cards, food (“…I was sick, and ye visited me…” Matthew 25:36), friendly hospitable, encouraging (Barbabas, Acts 4:36), benevolent, free with your gifts (“But whosohath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?” I John 3:17), evangelistic, and mission minded (“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” Matthew 28:19).
It is these last two things that I want to write about today. In a few short months there will be a group from Mt. Juliet leaving to go to Central America to begin a mission point in Buenos Aires, Panama. Many of us have gone on these trips before and know the wonderful feeling and satisfaction that comes from this work. I want to encourage everyone to get involved in a work like this.
There are many things that can be done even if you don’t go. Help those who are going with money, encouragement, helping to perform tasks that they cannot if they are out of town (take care of children, check on house or family).
Provide things that are needed for these people to have a successful trip. Bill Cox, Ronnie Sneed, and John Hiter are good about helping provide some food and snacks for our trips. Willie Claud helped with some equipment. Others provide things that we can give away. Jeff Brown is giving us many things for the children to play with (frisbee, pens, and pencils). Some children are sharing their old crayons with those in the jungle. All the women have shared their thread, needles, buttons and zippers over the years.
Thank you for all your help. This work is gaining momentum. People are hungry for the gospel of Jesus Christ in other parts of the world.
Please remember us in your prayers, with your money, and thoughts about what we can do with something you can provide to us.
You are a great congregation.
