Princess Diana

by Joey Davis

She is just as famous in death as in life. At only thirty-six years old, the former Diana Spencer passed from this world.

Coming from virtual anonymity into the limelight was difficult for this young woman. She had no real desire to be centerstage. However, as the saying goes, "some are born to greatness and others I have if thrust upon them." Diana Spencer happened to fit both categories.

At times, it almost seemed that she would have rather shifted the spotlight to her husband, Prince Charles. But she was destined for the type of fame that makes the truly humble feel uncomfortable in their own skin.

The most tragic part of this story is that the same fame that made her uncomfortable, yet a world figure, is. the very thing that took her life. As she and a companion, a multibillionaire, were fleeing from people hounding her for pictures that would exploit her, their vehicle crashed into a pillar in a tunnel in Paris.

Over the last few days, I've noticed that the deaths of these three people h3ve been treated quite differently. The driver of the car, who was killed in the crash, is rarely mentioned. As a matter of fact, I have yet to hear anyone actually say his name. His only identity in this matter is that he is known as "the driver of the car."

I'm sure he was talented family man who could have maneuvered this tunnel 99% of the time. It's the 1% that got him.

The other person killed in this accident is a multibillionaire with the first name "Dodi." (What a name?!?)

Anyway, this man and his family have enough money to purchase everything that I have ever owned, as well as everything

most of my friends have ever owned. Yet, compared to his riding companion, his death is merely a footnote to a horrible tragedy.

What made Diana different? She was royalty at its best. She stood for what is good in a world that seems to be getting worse by the minute. She was beauty, grace, and compassion all rolled into one shy and unassuming person. . .

. . . We will all make the journey into eternity. The news of our passing will shake the heavens like the news of Diana's passing shook the earth. Just as the news of the death of a Princess saturated the airwaves of a dying world, the news of your entrance into the realm of eternity will fill the Halls of Glory with a shout!

Why? Well, as in the case of Diana, wealth and talent are nothing compared to royalty. You see, we are children of the King of kings. That makes us royalty. So let us be royalty at its best!

May others see in us spiritual beauty, extraordinary grace, and godly compassion. It's our birthright, may we wear it well.
