Attacking the Church

by Joey Davis

". . . But you will be delivered up even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death, and you will be hated on account of my name."

( Luke 21: 16-17)

What's all the commotion about? So what if Ken Starr has been brutally attacked by the news media? Did you expect anything different? After all don't we live in a country where most citizens could care less about the moral integrity of our leaders? America is no longer the land of the tree and the home of the brave, but the land where genocide is considered a "moral decision." We live in a country where public nudity is considered artwork is considered beneath everyone but the uneducated and stupid, and the general population has lost its ability to blush.

So why are we having trouble believing that the populace of this hemisphere would despise someone who did his job exactly the way it was outlined? Who would dare think that finding the dirty-low-down truth about a world leader would bring anything but death to the messenger rather than the guilty?

Sorry guys, I'm not shocked.

Now, the latest attack on Ken Starr is directed not only at him, but at us . . . the church! Recently an article was published stating that Ken Starr was a sexual prude because he is a member or a "sect" known as the Church of Christ. The article, written by lawyer and "ordained" minister H. John Rogers, goes on to say that "the Church of Christ's teaching focuses heavily upon sexual conduct. It is the president's great misfortune that his inquisitor is a man who considers a little hanky-panky and its natural by-product (the covering lie), the equivalent of treason and bribery." (H. John, Ol' buddy, even your popular brand of religion considers sexual conduct important, and lying and "hanky-panky" is still a sin!)

Does it make you angry that the church is no longer welcomed in "Mr. Rogers' neighborhood?" Not me! Jesus warned us that because of His name we would be hated. You see, it was only a matter of time until the political and religious liberals started attacking us. We should consider it an honor because, after all, they are attacking us for wearing the name of Jesus and standing for truth!

Kudos to Ken Starr! Bravo to how he has conducted himself. His courage and confidence tells me that he must have read the next two verses in Luke 21 . . . "yet not a hair of your head will perish. By your endurance you will gain your lives." Amen!
