What is Our Church Climate?

by John Thomas

Earth is surrounded by its "atmosphere." This layer of air is composed largely of Nitrogen (78%) and Oxygen (21%). To understand climate, we must look at the "atmosphere."

One key factor of temperature is the distance the earth is from the sun. It also depends on if we are directly facing the sun, or whether we are hidden from the direct light. The difference is night and day. Temperature is also determined by Carbon Dioxide. That is the component which absorbs the heat which bounces back off the earth.

Ozone acts as a filter to the sun, as it absorbs most of the ultraviolet rays. The ozone protects us and all life from getting burned up.

Dust particles play an important role as well. Dust particles are the nuclei around which the raindrops from. ANd we all know how important raindrops are. The Comparison: We are all surrounded by our environment and factors in our environment can change. We must get the right amount of needed things around us and keep it balanced.

Temperature Controlling Elements:

1. The distance from the SON! ANd are we facing Him directly or have we turned out backs to Him? Remember: The difference is night & day!

2. We should be like Carbon Dioxide in the fact that we catch the warmth given from the SON and hold on to it. The church should be a warm place to be!

3. We should be like the Ozone which filters the things that can burn us. KEEP HARMFUL THINGS OUT OF OUR HOMES!

4. If we take this sinful, dusty world and warp Christ and ourselves around it and use it for a nucleus for good, (instead of being wrapped up in it) the blessing will rain down and it will nourish the earth. Remember: God takes things like dust and can turn them into something good.

With what do we surround ourselves? What is our Atmosphere? What is our Climate? What is our Temperature? NKJV 1 Corinithians 15:33 "Do not be deceived: Evil company corrupts good habits."
