Worship
by John Thomas
What is the setting of our worship? Is it a formality? Is it a tradition? Is it respect? Is it awe? Is it encouraging? Is it entertaining? Is it truly worship?
What should it be?
What should it NOT be? Do we even consider this question? Do we just show up and let it take place?
Do we worship in a way that pleases us, or God?
John 4:24 NKJV "God is Spirit, and those that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and truth."
Mark 7:7 NKJV "And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men."
Psalm 29:2 NKJV "Give unto the Lord the glory due to his name; Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness;"
Please just take the time to consider these things and think about the reverence or lack of reverence that we give to our worship. As we mature and grow individually and as a whole, we should find ourselves in deeper reverence in our praise and worship to God. Our worship is NOT to be centered around us, but around God. We should praise him in song, which would mean that we sing. We should sing songs of praise and not songs of how our life is going. We should observe God as the Creator. We should show thanksgiving to him for all of our blessings, and for our very existence, and for our chance of living on his property for free for eternity, and for forgiveness when we do stupid stuff
AND, we should pay attention to God, Nothusbands and wives and children and people walking around and passing cars and not thinking about lunch or work or ANYTHING else, but God!
That goes for all of us, including myself! God deserves our best and more!
