To find a balance in things proves to be a difficult task at times. It is something we should strive for as Christians in many areas of our lives. One of those areas is when we should speak and when we should be silent. We see passages like Joshua 1:8 and Psalms 1:2 and we are encouraged to meditate. K.J.V. Joshua 1:8(a) "This book of the law shall not depart out of my mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night..." K.J.V. Psalm 1:2 (The blessed man) "But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night." Meditation is something we don't do very often. Meditation is the idea of slowing down and thinking about things, and getting your priorities right. Take time to this sometime. I believe it will make you feel better. Find a place to be by yourself where there is silence; nothing but you and God, and pray. Remember, to meditate you have to focus on something, so make sure your focus is on God, not you!
On the flip side of meditation is the issue of standing up against things of this world that are dead wrong. It takes a great deal courage to stand up for what is right sometimes. Proverbs 28:1 says "The righteous are bold as a lion." Acts 4:13, 29, and 31 we see Peter and John preaching and the word used to describe their speech in these verses is BOLDNESS! We've got to stand against satan! We've all heard the saying "You've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything." I think that it's true. No man can Irve two masters. You can only love one of them. We're either on satan's side or against him. We better stand against him!
Consider these verses to help you find your balance.
Proverbs 15:1-4 - Have a soft answer and a wholesome tongue.
Colossians 4:6 - Let your speech be seasoned with salt / know how to answer men.
Deuteronomy 4:2- Don't add to nor diminish the commands of God.
Revelation 22:18-19 - Add to His words-plagues added to you / take away-book oflife taken away.
Be careful to choose good words and use them in a humble spirit, but don't back down in cowardice against satan. Fight him ith everything in your arsenal! He's going down!
