Cookie Monster

Who Stole the Cookie From the Cookie Jar? Who me'? Couldn't be! Then who? Number xxx Stole the Cookie from the Cookie Jar.
The words went something like that in the game we used to playas kids. It was a rhythmic game in which you proved your innocence by staying in rhythm and turning the blame to the next player of choice.
This game is much like human nature from the beginning of time.
We see Adam in Genesis 3:12 asking, "Who me?" It was the woman (that you gave me!) See, now it's God's fault, right? WRONG!
We see Eve in Genesis 3:13 asking, "Who me?" It was the serpent.
We see the people of Judah in Malachi 3:8 asking, "Who me?" Rob God? In tithes and offerings? Malachi 3:9 says the whole nation is cursed!
Matthew 26: 21 - Jesus told the apostles that one would betray Him. They all asked "Who me?"
Jesus described Judas as the one who would betray Him ( Matthew 26:23). Matthew 26:25 We see Judas asking, "Who me?" Jesus says, "You have said it."
Matthew 26:34 - Jesus told Peter that he (Peter) would deny Him (Jesus). Peter asked "Who me?" Matthew 26:35- "Peter said to Him, "Even if I have to die with You will not deny You!" And so said all the disciples."
Jesus returns from His third time to pray in the Garden and finds them sleeping. Matthew 26:45 b. "Behold the hour is at hand. and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinner."
What damage is being done while we pass the buck? (And I'm not talking about contribution!) We don't set out to do evil many times, but our unconcerned attitude presents problems of its own. Let's be about the Master's business, carrying our own portion of the load, take responsibility when we make a slip, then get back to work. Let's never place blame on someone else for our shortcomings and certainly, let's not just sleep our spiritual lives away while the Son of Man is being betrayed by the world around us!
