Speech Seasoned with Salt
by John Parker New York officials have been attempting to increase civility in the city in the last few years, but recently subway conductors have
been instructed not ot say "please" when giving instructions to passengers.
The theory is that eliminating the word will eliminate a few
seconds from each stop and help the subway stay on schedule, according to Al O'Leary, NYC Transit Authority spokesman. But
Joe Rappaport, spokesman for a subway riders advocacy group, opposes the omission: "It just doesn't take up that much time to say
'please,' and it adds some civility to a system that needs it," he said. How we treat each other and speak to each other is important, according to the scriptures. Colossians 4:6 "Let you speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one. Let's be civil and kind to others in our speech.
