This past Sunday night my family left the building in three different directions -- Chris to the devotional just begun for grades 4-6, our teens to their devotional, and Judy and I to our visitation group. As a youngster growing up I did not realize the importance of being with other Christians (except for worship services), but I have learned as I grew olders how important it is just to "get together" and learn to love and appreciate other Christians.
I think we still have room to grow in this area, especially in being able to bridge the generation gap. People of youth and age both need to learn more about each other's special strengths and weaknesses, and appreciate each other.
We sing of the blest "tie that binds our hearts in Christian love" and the "fellowship of kindred minds" but in reality the unity of Christians is not based on everyone being exactly alike. one of the great things about the Lord's church is that it gives us an opportunity to be "kinfolks" with all of those redeemed by Jesus' blood -- out of every kindred, tongue, people, and nation ( Revelation 5:9) as well as those of all age groups. Here at Mt. Juliet we have wonderful people of every age group. May God use each of us in effective service to Him and our fellow man.
