"Who are you for?" is an oft asked question, but when we get discouraged we need a reminder of "who is for us." "If God is for us, who can be against us?" ( Romans 8:31).
Romans 8 lists several things God has done to show His efforts for us. Romans 8:32 says that God did not spare "his own Son, but delivered him up for us all." God also gives us "all things." The Son of God, Christ died and arose from the dead. It is He that "makes intercession for us at the right hand of God ( Romans 8:34). When overwhelmed with the need to pray and we do not know "what we should pray for as we ought" the Spirit makes intercession for us according to the will of God ( Romans 8:26).
What God has done on our behalf, as summarized from Romans 8, is (1) to provide a sacrifice for man's sins, a debt for which we could never pay; (2) to provide a defense attorney to please our case before God and (3) to provide a spokesman to make our needs known to God when words to express our needs cannot be uttered.
If God has done so much for us, we of necessity should be diligent in living for Him. Regardless of the trials and temptations of this life, let us realize that nothing can separate God's people from His love ( Romans 8:39).
