Purity of Speechby Ken Thomas God's plan for man has always included purity of speech. In the Ten Commandments ( Exodus 20) God said, "Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain." In the New Testament, the standard of judgment for today's man, we read Christ's words: "Every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned." ( Matthew 12:36-37.) The article above was printed several years ago as a part of a series of teaching ads in a newspaper. I do not know who authored it, but its message is still timely, especially considering the vulgarity and crudeness that abounds today. October 4, 1992 Related Articles:
