"These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood" ( Proverbs 6:16-17, KJV).
This week the U.S. Senate votes on a bill that would ban Partial birth abortions. Earlier testimony to Congress that this procedure was rare has been found to be false.
Incrementally, we have in this practice another assault on the sanctity of human life. Before, only abortions performed within the 40 weeks within the womb were legal. Now, as a child exits the womb, this heinous murder is legal.
This infanticide must stop! Doctors have testified that this procedure is never medically necessary, and is actually dangerous for the mothers. Here is where we must draw a line in the sand. We are on the brink of matching other atrocities that we have decried.
Nazi Germany killed Jews and slavics in an effort to bring about an ethnic cleansing. Josef Stalin slaughtered millions of political opponents (estimates now run as high as 30 million) to keep his power. In China, many girls are killed because couples want boys. Ethnic cleansings are taking place in Rwanda and Cambodia.
America, before you raise your voice in indignation, get the mote out 0 your own eye ( Matthew 7:1-5)! What right have we to lift our voices in indignation when thousands of innocent babies are slaughtered annually right here?
We can turn things around, and here is a wonderful beginning point! If you've never spoken out before, please do so now. Children are crying for deliverance.
Our Lord was born against just such a situation. Herod, when tricked by the Magi, ordered the slaughter of all male children in and around Bethlehem that were two years old and younger ( Matthew 2:16). An angel warned Joseph so that he, Mary, and baby Jesus could escape to Egypt.
Children today have no such escape to Egypt. Their only hope is for our involvement on their behalf. So, take a good long look at your own children. Precious ones just like them are waiting for your protection, your voice of protest.
"In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, becauce they are not" ( Matthew 2:18; Jeremiah 31:15). In like manner, will there not be voices heard from Mt. Juliet, crying out for the partially born?
