With Us In Spirit

by Dewayne Griffin

For some time now, I have wanted to write a bulletin article that sends a message of love and concern to those who are prevented from attending the worship services. You are aware that each Sunday, one of our elders leads a public prayer where the names of those who are bereaved, sick and unable to be in attendance are remembered. Some of these may be fortunate enough to join us via the internet where our services are streamed, however most cannot do this.

At Mt. Juliet, each member is important. We want those who are unable to attend the services to know they are missed, loved, and appreciated. Each Sunday the church has a group of young men who go to the residences of these members to conduct a brief worship service. This effort gives the young men an opportunity to grow spiritually, but more importantly, it lets our members know they have not been forgotten. The epistle of James, chapter 1 and verse 27 tells us that, "pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit the orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world."
