Christianity 24/7
by Tony Huddleston
In our busy everyday lives, it is easy to become distracted from what is most important, our commitment to the Savior. Jesus expects complete surrender to His way and His will. How can we do this? Too often we are indistinguishable from the world in our lives and in our actions. Here are some questions upon which we may reflect.
1. Is my life compartmentalized? Do I set aside Sunday and perhaps Wednesday for the Lord and the rest of the week for self? Or am I steadfast in His service? See 1 Corinthans 15:58.
2. At the work place or school, do people know I'm a Christian? We cannot be ashamed of Jesus and be pleasing to Him. This is the meaning of confession. Romans 10:9-11.
3. Is my language appropriate for a Christian, not just on Sunday but every day of the week? Do I take God's name in vain? This is a very common practice of worldly people. See James 5:12.
4. Do I care about those less fortunate as Jesus did? Do I visit the sick, give to the needy, and show care for those who are hurting? Matthew 25:34-36.
5. Do I pray, study the scriptures, and continue to grow spiritually as Jesus demonstrated in His own life. See Luke 2:40.
6. In the home and family, do my actions reflect love for each other and do they uplift God? Ephesians 5:22 - 6:8.
7. In the church family, do I always act with love toward my fellow Christians? Or do I gossip, backbite, and do hurtful things? Romans 13:9-10.
Do I desire money and possessions for myself, or do I see money as a tool for doing good? See 1 Timothy 6:6-10.
I urge all of us, myself included, to perform a self-examination regularly.
See 1 Corinthians 9:24-27.
If we do this, it will be much easier to keep our focus on the most import-
ant aspect of life, our relationship with the Savior.
