Ancient Words Living Faith

As our society advances in many ways, it is interesting to see old methods renewed at the same time. With the high cost of fuel prices, Beluga Shipping has attached a computer SkySail to its ocean liner. The power which sent ancient ships filled with pilgrims to America hundreds of years ago is now being used to aid the transporting of cargo. The hope is that it will save $1,600 a day in fuel per vessel.
Ancient Words Living Faith: Today we strive to live a life of faith. The only way we can be faithful is to learn and live ancient words of our God ( Romans 10:17).
Judah was on a path of desolation. Jeremiah was God's prophet urging them to repent in order to be spared the destruction of Jerusalem. He said in chapter 6 of his book,
"15 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No! They were not at all ashamed; Nor did they know how to blush. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; At the time I punish them, They shall be cast down," says the LORD.
16 Thus says the LORD: "Stand in the ways and see, And ask for the old paths, where the good way is, And walk in it; Then you will find rest for your souls. But they said, 'We will not walk in it."
Do you ask for the "old paths?" We do live in a time where new and modern, or advanced and technical are often arrogantly considered best. In many areas it is an improvement - but not in all areas. Can you honestly say with a heart of conviction, "The guidance of the Word of God in Christ's Testament, which is nearly 2,000 years old, is my authority?"
If ancient words stop being our guide, we stop believing sin is wrong and shameful. Our spiritual fall and demise has happened, yet we might not even be aware of it. The only solution is to read the Word of God. Stand in it. See what God says. Demand instruction no newer than God's voice recorded by inspiration. And say "We will walk in it." The only way to have living faith today is to fill our sails with ancient words!
