Bible Class: Why teach children about the Lord?
by David Shannon
"All your children shall be taught of the LORD, And great shall be the peace of your children." Isaiah 54:13
What a high calling for all parents and teachers - "All your children shall be taught of the Lord."
Why teach children about the Lord?
- They will learn of the One who loves them most and wants to spend an eternity with them!
- They will learn where they came from, why they are here, and where they are going.
- They will lay a foundation for their life which gives them a tremendous opportunity on which to build a spiritual, stable life.
- If they do stray from the truth later in life, at least they will know where and how to return!
- Godly spouses are more likely chosen by those who have learned of and submitted to God.
- Immorality is most often avoided by those who learn of and submit to God.
- The passing on of eternal knowledge from parent to child can only be done by parents who know these eternal truths. This is the greatest responsibility of a parent!
- They will be able to teach God to others, fulfilling one of the greatest and most satisfying tasks known to humans!
- If we don't, they will not know the greatest Book ever written, The Bible!
- They will never know "GREAT PEACE" if we don't teach them about our Lord.
Do you want your children to know peace? Do you teach your children the scriptures of God? The answer to these two questions must be the same! Do you want any of these things in your children's lives? If the answer is "yes" you must also answer "yes" to the question, "Do you teach your children about the Lord?" One aid we have is Bible classes on Sunday and Wednesday!
Let's teach every child in MJ about the Lord beginning this Sunday starting with ours as well as all their friends! Don't forget to invite a few car loads to Bible Class Emphasis Day this Sunday!
