Surgery Without Hands"In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12 buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. 13 ΒΆ And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses," Verse 13 Teaches: We have a disease of sin which causes spiritual death ( Romans 6:23). To be in this condition is to be "uncircumcised" by Christ. To be circumcised by Christ is to be "made alive together with Him" and be "forgiven".
Baptism is a redeeming time when a person dead in sin buries themselves with Christ in order to have Him remove the guilt of past sins ( Acts 22:16). This is a part of man's response to God's grace!
Think about this: Never in the scriptures was a saved person baptized! If in baptism the Lord removes the guilt of sin, how could a saved person enter baptism? Impossible! The Lord insists we live with Him by being "Buried w/Him," "Raised w/Him," "to be alive together w/Him!" There is only one baptism ( Ephesians 4:5) which places us with Him. To think so many falsely teach nothing happens in baptism, which in their baptism that is correct, but in The Lord's baptism much happens! The Great Physician performs spiritual surgery to forgive sins! This is surgery we all need! August 31, 2003 |
