What Can We Do As One?
by Phil Waggoner

Jesus said in Matthew 12:25, "Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand."
This principle is true for our family, our team, our church family, and especially our youth group.
How much greater will we be as a group when everyone is pulling their own weight and pulling in the same direction? We realize that each one of us is different. Rather than dividing our group based on our differences, let's appreciate our differences and use our different talents to accomplish more good.
Were all of the disciples the same? Did they have the same personality, the same talents? Absolutely not. Jesus chose His disciples personally. One can see and appreciate that these men were different from each other. They did not allow their differences to be a stumblingblock, but an encouragement. Just as 1 Corinthians 12 talks about the different gifts, we realize we all have different gifts and talents. If each one of us discovers what his or her gift is, and uses it for God's glory, God will be glorified, and the church will multiply. In our youth group, we have many different personalities. We have many different schools, hobbies, interests, and talents represented. Let's choose to look for the good in each other. Let's look at each others talents and encourage one another to use them. Let's remember our purpose and mission on this earth. A house divided will not stand. What will a house united do? How about a united youth group?
