How can I reach someone in Crisis?

by Phil Waggoner

Phil Waggoner

We all go through Crises in our life. At different times, we all have our faith tested by the different hardships we have to overcome. Maybe it's the loss of a loved one, breaking up with a girlfriend, or a problem at home or school. As Christians, sometimes the best time to talk to someone about their soul is when they're going through a crisis. In Acts 16, we see Paul and Silas beaten and put in prison for doing the work of the Lord. At midnight they are praying and singing praises to the Lord. The scriptures tell us the other prisoners were listening. There was an earthquake and the prison doors were opened and the menĂ¢'s chains loosed. The Philippian jailer was about to kill himself when Paul cried out to him. He then asked Paul what he must do to be saved. That very night, he and his whole household were baptized into Christ. Why did the Jailer approach Paul in his moment of Crisis? Would someone come to you in a moment of Crisis? It E.R.K.S. me to see someone in crisis and have no one to help them. As Christians, we must seize the opportunities laid before us. In order to do so, I must be an Example- a genuine Christian who lives his life devoted to God. I must have a Relationship with that person- No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care! I must Know God's word- I must know how to help someone when they come to me. And I must be willing to Share the word of God with those in Need! Then I can reach my friends and loved ones in crises just like Paul!
