Finding Your Place

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." ( Ephesians 2:8-10)

The preceding passage serves as the introduction of our SOS (Serving Our Savior) booklet for 2008-2009. Today, I am encouraging each member of the Mt. Juliet church to take another look at the booklet and see just where your talents may be used. There are almost 60 ministries listed, which give us many opportunities to serve. In a congregation that is approaching 900 members, it can be easy to be overlooked and under used. The primary purpose for developing the SOS program was to find and define ministries of service to God and our fellowman.

Last Sunday, I was privileged to attend the worship service at the Mt. Juliet Health Care Facility where one of our men presented a short lesson. He did an outstanding job, and I thought what a wonderful opportunity the healthcare ministry had given him! I do not know if he would be comfortable speaking to a larger group, but in this setting he used his God-given talent to serve others. Perhaps, all of us need to step outside our comfort zones and search for ways to become more involved.

Last year the elders made the decision to hire JP (Jonathan Pettus) for the express purpose of assisting any members who desire to find their places in the Lord's work. He is available and eagerly awaits the opportunity to help you become more involved. If you have questions regarding involvement please contact JP, any of the deacons, or the elders.

"We have different gifts, according to the grace that is given us---". ( Romans 12:6) Please allow us to help you find your place at Mt. Juliet.
