Satan is for Real
by Dewayne Griffin
A nickname for a local high school, a nickname for a major university in North Carolina, a person in a red suit with a pointed tail who is carrying a pitchfork --- these are descriptive terms which come to mind when we hear or see the word Devil. Christians need to constantly remind themselves there is much more to the Devil or Satan than the earlier words describe. Just as in the days of Job, the Devil is alive, moving all about seeking to destroy all that is morally right.
Everyday I am reminded that I cannot operate under my own power. Just when I think I really have things going my way and that I am totally responsible for those feelings, Satan visits me and I know that my only true defense is found in God.
It saddens me to see individuals yielding to Satan's dreaded power and the effect it is having on our families. Far too many of us are confessing God with our lips and denying him with our lifestyle. If we genuinely believed that God would send us to a Devil's Hell if we did not obey him, we would not flirt with sin and rub elbows with Satan, but rather, would flee with great speed.
During the coming week, I ask that each of us remind ourselves that Satan is real and more importantly, that God is real. After those two facts are firmly settled in our mind, let us choose whom we shall obey. Our choice will absolutely determine where we will spend eternity.
Finally, please remember all our families in fervent prayer.
