Are You Watching and Waiting for the Lord's Return?
by Dennis Nosal

Jesus tells us to remain faithful and watchful for His coming again to take us to the kingdom of heaven. He promises for the faithful that He is preparing a place for us in His Father's mansion. He says in Matthew 24:36-42
"But of that day and hour knoweth no one, not even the angels of heaven, neither the Son, but the Father only. And as were the days of Noah, so shall be the coming of the Son of man. For as in those days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and they knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall be the coming of the Son of man. Then shall two men be in the field; one is taken, and one is left: two women shall be grinding at the mill; one is taken, and one is left. Watch therefore: for ye know not on what day your Lord cometh."
When the Lord returns, will he find us watching and waiting? If we're actively looking for His return, won't we be motivated to be prepared for His return? Jesus points this out to us in the parable of the faithful slave that He put in charge of His household. Because he expected and waited for the return of his master, he was found faithful when he returned. The evil slave said in his heart that his master has not returned in a long time so he stops watching and starts to eat and drink. His master returns when he least expects it and is found to be unfaithful. It's when we stop looking for His return that we begin to think that He won't return and we fall into the ways of this world.
It has been a long time since our Lord left the earth in a cloud. The world has turned its back on our Lord and has been eating and drinking. The world is not looking for our Savior to return. They think because He's been gone a long time that He's not going to come back and take the faithful to live with Him in heaven. Some no longer believe He ever existed. The world is trying its best to pull as many away from being watchful and waiting upon our Lord as it can. The Devil is a strong adversary and cunning in putting doubts in our minds about the return of our Lord. Let's stay vigilant in prayer for strength that we will stand strong against the temptations all around us.
I pray that we will all be found watching, waiting, and faithful when our Lord returns.
