God's Word

by James Whiteaker

James Whiteaker

David's article last week was about church growth. It is a special topic for Mt Juliet. We are growing for many different reasons. One of the most frequent reasons new members give for becoming part of our family is the word of God taught from the pulpit. Each has praise for David and his sermons each Sunday.

The word of God has power to save and the power to make us complete. Throughout time men have recognized the power of the word of God. Woodrow Wilson stated When you read the Bible you will know that it is the word of God because you will have found it the key to your own heart, your own happiness, your own duty. Theodore Roosevelt said A thorough knowledge of the Bible is worth more than a college education. C. H. Spurgeon stated Nobody ever outgrows scripture; the book widens and deepens with our years. Napoleon said, 'the Bible is no mere book, but a Living Creature, with a power that conquers all that oppose it.

We are fortunate to have our ministers at Mt Juliet. We are saved because we have God's love shown by the sacrifice of His Son recorded in the Bible. We are commanded to 'study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Tim. 2:15. In the next chapter verse 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Sermons are helpful and Bible classes are good but God's word has to flow from us like living water to those around us. There is someone you know that is dying. Will you have the word to save?
