Men's Ministry

"We as a congregation are greatly blessed with so many talented individuals," says Jaime Harper, the deacon whose works include the Men's Ministry. "I think the problem is that some of them don't know it yet!" one of the benefits of participating in any of the many activities of this ministry conducts is a chance to discover some of those talents. Being willing to give a devotional talk or cook at a men's event are two of the tasks where Jaime said this ministry could use more help. Most of those who have already volunteered to give a talk have done so, "and we would like to give others an opportunity." Cooking for one of the men's breakfasts takes 3-4 people, "and again we would like to give others an opportunity." Another task is coordinating assignments such as cooks or speakers. That involves lining up the willing people, scheduling, setting up and preparation. The goal of the Men's Ministry is "to strengthen the spirituality of each man, and grow a spiritual bond with each other so that we can be better servants, Christians, husbands, fathers, and friends." it's important to carry out the effort, he noted, because nobody is strong enough to face the world alone, but there is strength in numbers. "Although we each have different battles, we can come together and fight as one," Jaime said, nothing the exhortation in Galatians 6:2 to "bear one another's burdens and thereby fulfill the law of Christ." Because of the benefits of taking part in such activities and the need for strengthening they impart, all men are encouraged to join. "I know the things required in this ministry are not wild and adventurous, but they do require a willingness," says Jaime.
