Jail Ministry

Men and women in Wilson County's jail "need a positive direction and change," notes Tim Martin, who as been active in the jail ministry for six years. And, Christ wanted us to visit those in jail.
Mt. Juliet members try to follow that instruction by preaching the Word at the jail every third and fifth Sunday conducting group Bible studies on Monday nights.
More participants are needed in this work's ladies ministry, and it could also use more men teachers, Tim says.
The Sunday services in the jail are from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. and the Monday Bible studies, each week are from 7:30 - 8:30 p.m. The jail ministry coordinates workers who teach and assist from the Adams Avenue and Berea congregations as well as Mt. Juliet.
In addition to those worship and study gatherings, it also ensures people who request Bibles receive them, and works to fulfill requests for food, clothing or financial assistance to those in need.
Although "society has given up on some of them, we should not," Tim said of the people the jail ministry serves. Afterall, Christ died for these men and women just as he did for all of us.
