Heaven Bound

by James Whiteaker

James Whiteaker

I am going to heaven. Not today but at the end of my life I will be in heaven. Those of you who know me are shaking your head thinking he is delusional. My mother would just smile that Im sure smile our mothers always gave us when as children we told her we didnt know how it happened. The thought we confuse sometimes is that I know I am not perfect ( Romans 3:23 for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God) Again my friends are thinking, thats a news flash. But even more than that, I believe that God speaks the truth. He has given us His spirit as a guarantee. ( Ephesians 1:13 - having heard the word of the truth, the gospel of your salvation,- in whom, having also believed, ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise). His Sons blood washes away our sins ( Ephesians 1:7 - in whom we have our redemption through His blood) How is it that God tells us that we are all sinners, but that we have salvation? Why would God tell us to follow Him, but tell us we will fall? Why would God send His Son to die and not save us? Because He loves us -- but He knows us. He sees us as we see our own children. Our children are not perfect but we know their hearts. As we walk in the light He goes with us ( 1 John 1:7 but if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanseth us from all sin) To me that is such a comfort.
Bill Watkins in his lesson at Crieve Hall on 9/17/06 remarked that how can we appeal to those who believe that once saved always saved when we are not sure we are going to heaven? Who would trade a guaranteed trip to heaven for an I hope trip? For those who have I hope I make it belief, I can say you will never be perfect enough. I would ask you to believe God. Believe His promise, that no matter how often you fail, God has prepared a place for me ( John 14:2-3 - In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I come again, and will receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also). As long as we do not turn our back on God ( 2 Peter 2:20), he will be there (Matt 28:20 teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world). I can say with assurance that you have a home in heaven. I know you and know you have failings but I know you are trying and you will be with me. Isnt God great!
