Opportunities to Serve
by Dewayne Griffin

If you were asked to describe the Lords church at Mt. Juliet, what words would you usewarm and friendly a place where sound doctrine is preacheda mission minded church? All of these descriptions are correct, yet they only begin to tell who we are and what we do.
I would describe the congregation as a place where those who are hurting can come for comfort and healing, where those who are lost and wandering can find their way, where those who are sad can find a smile, and where the friendless can find a friend. It is a place where every person of every age can find something to do. For over 100 years these things have made the Mt. Juliet church of Christ a very special place.
Today there are eight elders, nearly fifty deacons, and four ministers who are dedicated to helping others get to heaven. We have one of the most ambitious programs of work in the brotherhood, yet there is much more to be done. Our goal is to have every member working for the Lord. Each deacon needs volunteers to help him further his ministry. I encourage each member to review the SOS (Serving Our Savior) booklet and look for a ministry in which to get involved in 2006.
This coming weekend the Calling and Caring Workshop presents us with a wonderful occasion to equip ourselves for the Lords work. The session will begin Friday night, run most of the day Saturday and conclude Sunday afternoon. The schedule for each session can be found in this bulletin. This is a hands-on workshop. There will be a workbook and practical exercises, rather than the usual lecture style presentation. If you are truly interested in Seeking the Lost, you will not want to miss this opportunity to serve.
