The Mt. Juliet church family continues to be blessed with growth. Each week finds us announcing new family members.
Many of you, in particular, those born before 1950, know what large families mean. You grew up in one. You may be a part of a family of six or more kids, parents, grandparents, and others living under one roof.
There was (hopefully) a lot of love and caring under that roof. Usually each member of the family had chores and responsibilities that helped keep everyone working and contributing to the well-being of the family.
Many of us never had such a growing experience. However, now that we are a large church family, we can be a benefit to the family's further growth. It behooves each of us to accept our responsibility of servant, to God, our family, and others as we strive to walk our Christian walk. Not only is service good for us, God requires it.
Today's popular trend for Christians is to attend an exciting church service to be entertained, to make us "feel good", God forbid that we should be excited by "christian" entertainment in place of our service and worship to Him as is His due. Let's live peaceably and work together as a family in our service to Him.
1 Peter 3:8-12. "Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another, love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing. 'He who would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit; let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.'"
