Light

by John Thomas

You know the feeling...the feeling you get when someone flashes a light in your eyes. Being bright lighted as you drive down the road. Being asleep and somebody turning on the light and waking you up! Not a very good feeling is it?

Ever been in a cave and felt the utter darkness and then you finally get to the point where you can see the light at the end of the tunnel? It is a good feeling isn't it?

You know the feeling of waking up in the morning and seeing the first light of day when you have been camping on top of a mountain and you see the light breaking over the top of the ridge. That is a great feeling isn't it?

John 3:19...the Light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil."

Sometimes I think that men sit in their little "caves" just inside the entrance to the cave and are happy that there is enough light that they can see inside and walk around without running into things. But they are afraid to go outside their environment to see if there is anything better. Every time you go outside and see the light, you have to squint, but once your eyes have adjusted to the brightness you can see clearly.

Our relationship with Jesus is the same way. John 3:20-21 "For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth, comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God."
