The average American has been blessed greatly. But the Christian has been blessed abundantly. Jesus states in John 10:10 I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. Paul gives assurance that God has blessed us exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think. Ephesians 3:20 We should remember to thank God.
Jesus wants his people to have and enjoy the abundant life. The scriptures give many accounts of those who forfeit their inheritance in order to gain that which is temporary or empty.
Henry T. Blackaby in his book Experiencing God Day-By-Day makes the following statement, The world seeks to convince you that you will find fulfillment if you adopt its standard of morality for your marriage, raising your children, advancing your career, or pursuing pleasure. If you believe this, you will never experience the blessing God intended for you. Sin brings death (Rom. 6:23). It is tragic to listen to the voices of the world instead of the One who created life and who wants you to experience life to the fullest.
Jesus wants Christians to live with assurance, knowing they are the beloved children of God. If we are not living with love, joy, and peace, we have settled for less than God intends for us.
We should not make excuses for not having the abundant life that God so graciously provides through His loving Son, but should determine to seek Gods best for our lives. The world offers much, but only in Christ can we find the abundant and eternal life. Thank God for the abundant life!
