Use Your Mind

by Albert England

Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ 1 Peter 1:13. Our mind is a wonderful thing. Through meditation, we can fill our heart with the wonderful understanding and power of Gods word. We can also recall the great promises of God and know that God will always keep His promises. A trained mind can discern between the truth and falsehood.
Gods most effective servants are those who discipline their minds. Those who are a great success in the business world are great thinkers. The Lord emphasized this point in Joshua in giving him his charge. This the Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have a good success Joshua 1:8.
It is said today that many do not exercise their mind to serve God. They listen to the thoughts of others rather than study and meditate on Gods word. The Psalmist states in Psalm 1:2 that the man who meditates on Gods word is blessed. He also tells us that through meditation one gets understanding Psalm 49:3. In Philippians 4:8, Paul gave a list of great traits and then gives this admonition- ...think on these things.
Paul urges Christians to strive for maturity in thinking. 1 Corinthians 14:20. He also tells people to put away childish thinking and to know and understand the great truths of God 1 Corinthians 13:11. This is accomplished through studying and meditation on Gods word. As Christians we are transformed by the renewing of your mind Romans 12:2
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer Psalm 19:14. Be steadfast to use your mind to the glory of God.
