Would You Like a Drink of Water?
by David Burka
It is such an encouragement to see the many different people who are involved in carrying the Gospel to many places from the Mount Juliet church of Christ. The elders would like to thank each one of you who have been involved this year in taking the Gospel message to all the world, including those who went: 1) on either of the two trips to Latin America, 2) to the stateside campaign in Inner City Chattanooga, 3) on the teens trip to Georgia, and 4) to the orphanage in Ukraine. Each destination was different and had its own challenges, but the Gospel remains the same, no matter the location. If you added up those involved in the efforts mentioned above, it would total nearly one-fourth of this congregation. What a mission-minded place!
Those who didn't go, probably knew someone who did. You helped do the Lords work by praying for those who went or contributing to a specific work. If you added up the ones who have given support, it's a large percentage of this great congregation. I am really excited to be a part of the Lord's family here.
When you're working hard, there's nothing like a drink of cold water. As a runner, I appreciate the effects of cold water at strategic times in a race. From Middle Tennessee to Eastern Europe, whether you went or helped those who did, we've been working hard as a congregation, and it's time for a cold water break. Proverbs 25:25 says, "As cold water to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country." This Sunday evening, October 2nd, we can be refreshed with the news about two special areas where lives were touched this past summer.
