I Miss My Dog

by James Whiteaker

James Whiteaker

At the stateside mission this summer we were at a devotional one night and Mike Kibbe made the statement that he missed Madison. If any of you have seen Madison you can see why. This seems odd now but when Mike said he missed Madison my first thought was I miss Mick. Many of you have met Mick at the house. He may seem like a regular dog but you have not seen him hunt rabbits, birds, or anything else that will run from a 9-pound ball of fur. I wondered that night why did Mick had come to mind? Have you ever missed someone?

Our children and dogs love us. They want to be with us all the time, in your lap or at your side. When you come home they run and jump for joy and beg to be touched. In all this rambling I wonder, do I bring that joy to anyone? Does anyone miss me when I am gone? I would like to have that affect on others. I would want to bring a smile to those faces I pass in church. Proverbs 18:24 A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: Proverbs 17:17 A friend loveth at all times; and a brother is born for adversity.

I want to capture that fellowship which occurs on mission trips for the whole church. When we sing, Bless be the Tie, I want the family to feel that closeness.

1 Peter 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in your obedience to the truth unto unfeigned love of the brethren, love one another from the heart fervently.

As we work together at Mt Juliet, I feel the connection to the family grow. And yes I miss you when I am gone.

Romans 12:10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another.
