The choices one makes will determine the success or failure in life. Parents help their small children to make choices. They teach them to make right decisions. A child needs guidance in the food they eat, the friends they have, and many other areas. As the children grow, parents expect them to make right choices.
There is always a right choice and a wrong choice. We must make the decision whether to go to church, stay home, go to a ball game, or some other activity. A teen quickly learns that decisions are not easy to make since the right choices are not always as clear as we were taught as a child. When we become a Christian this has an effect on all the choices that are made for the rest of our lives. These choices will determine our eternal destiny.
Each day choices must be made. Will we take time to start the day by studying Gods word and prayer or rush on with our busy lives? Will we be an optimist or a pessimist? A Christian will have a positive attitude. Each day will be filled with meaningful opportunities. Making the right choices brings godly contentment, but wrong choices produce pain and sorrow. We need to realize that the choices we make have a powerful influence on others.
There are two great Bible examples of choices. The wisdom of Joshuas choice is seen in Joshua 24:15, But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. The influences of Joshuas wise choices are seen in the statement, Israel served the Lord all the days of Joshua. Joshua 24:31. Hebrews 11:25 tells us that Moses chose to endure hardship with Gods people rather than enjoy the passing pleasures of sin.
Choices can bring holiness to one or great sorrow; success or failure. The choices we make will determine our eternal destiny. We need to be as strong and as wise as Joshua and Moses in making choices. Last but not least, choices should be made with earnest prayer for guidance from above.
