Studying God's Word

by Tommy Dixon

"Study to shew thyself 3.pproved unto God, a workman that needth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. ( 2 Timothy 2:15.)
The kind of Bible study which God wants is the kind which results in one's doing what God wants him to do.
"Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the flooes came, and winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it ,vas founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolishman which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it." ( Matthew 7:24-27).
Those who will be saved eternally will be those who study and obey the word of
God. The wise man built his house (life) upon a solid foundation of obedience to God's word, while the foolish man built his house (life) upon hearing God's word but doing nothing. When the trials, hardships, and temptations of life come, the wise man, (the doer of God's word) will survive while the foolish man who hears and does nothing will be lost. We must study God's word and put it into our lives.
