The Last Day
by Pat Hackney
A description of the judgement is given in Matthew 25:31-46. This passage teaches that Christ is coming again in great glory. He will be sitting upon a great throne with all the holy angels with him. Before him shall be gathered all nations. There will be a universal judgement of all mankind. At that time all who ever lived will appear before the judgement seat of Christ. A great separation will occur. All mankind will be put under two categories, the sheep and the goats. The sheep, the righteous, will inherit eternal life and the goats, the wicked, will be cast into everlasting punishment.
Men have sought to soften the Biblical doctrine; and yet there are too many scriptures that it cannot be denied. Just a few if them are Hebrews 9:27, II Corinthians 5:10, Philippians 2:10, Romans 14:11-12, and 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9. The certainity of that day cannot be avoided. The rej ection of t.he doctrine of the judgement, heaven, and hell is a rejection of God and Christ's teachings.
The good news is, at the last day, the Lord comes to receive his saints. Therefore, as Christians, let us take courage and say with Paul: "Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." ( 2 Timothy 4:8)
