Transportation Ministry

Jim Gregory This week, our Ministry Spotlight features a very important but sometimes overlooked ministry - Transportation. Jim Gregory is the deacon over this ministry, and its mission is to provide safe transportation and maintain our fleet of vans and buses with qualified drivers. If you stop and think about it, many of the other ministries in our congregation would not be nearly as effective without good, reliable transportation. Over the next few years, Jim anticipates a growing need for transportation, which may include acquiring more vehicles. Jim reminds us that the bus and vans need to be kept in good working order, so be sure to report any problems immediately, in writing, to Jim. Doing this will allow Jim and those who work with him to deal with those problems immediately. When he reflects on this ministry, one of Jims fondest memories is driving our widows/widowers group to lunch once a month. The bus makes it easier for all of them to travel together, and after each trip, the smiles, thank-yous, and hugs make him thankful to help. He and Marge are encouraged by their wisdom and love. This ministry does make a difference in several ministries. The bus provides safe transportation for our young people, and our parents are thankful to know that when they send their children on trips. The Reaching the Top group can now travel as a group, in the same vehicle, and enjoy the fellowship of being together. Help Wanted We need drivers with a CDL class A, B, or C with a passenger endorsement. Phil and Lex are really getting a work-out driving our young people everywhere they go. Please get your CDL and help out! There is also a great need for individuals to provide rides to and from church Sunday morning and night, as well as Wednesday night. We also need volunteers to provide rides to medical appointments, etc. If you can provide a ride for any of those times, please let Jim know immediately.
