News from the Classroom
I am writing this article from Searcy, Arkansas, where J.P., Nick Fowler, and I are spending a couple of days at the Harding University Lectureship. One of the advantages of this program is the specific nature of the classes offered - for youth ministry, education ministry, missions, church growth, etc. I am thankful to our Elders for allowing us these opportunities to grow. As you know, Nick, Amy, and Jonah are preparing to do mission work in Brazil. Nick has been meeting with individuals and making contacts that will help them as they continue to recruit and plan for this effort. As we learned last week, Don and Grif have been hard at work with the Sudan effort, and the same holds true for Nick and Amy. We are blessed to associate with workers who have such a heart to serve God. Please continue to pray for all the mission efforts supported by our congregation.
Did you know that we had over 600 in Bible Class last Wednesday evening? That tells me that our Wednesday night services are valuable times for spiritual growth, as well as encouraging others and strengthening relationships. Taking time during the middle of the workweek can be challenging, but isn't it wonderful to think about 600 people waiting to encourage you?
A sign-up sheet for the Walk-Thru the Bible Seminar is located at the Welcome Center; please sign-up as soon as possible if you will be able to attend. It will take place on October 18th in the Fellowship Hall, and we will begin at 9:00 and end with a lunch together. We will learn the story of the entire Old Testament by using some creative hand-signs and visuals rather than taking notes. Depending on how many attend, we can make childcare available, and elementary school children would enjoy participating in the sessions with the adults. We want to have as many people there as possible!
As our Fall Focus continues on Sunday morning, we will continue to have folders with the previous week's handouts available in the foyer. Don't forget that all our adult classes will be combined on Sunday morning, as we meet in the auditorium for Family Day. Bud Lambert will be sharing a lesson you won't want to miss. See you in Bible Class!
