Vacation Bible School

This weeks Ministry Spotlight focuses on Vacation Bible School (V.B.S.). For the past few years, David McIndoo has served as the Deacon who coordinates this yearly effort. The goal of V.B.S. is to give one week during the summer that is wholly dedicated to teaching Gods word to children. Over the past few V.B.S. weeks, the number of children in attendance has risen dramatically. Much of that increase is due to the hard work of many volunteers who give their time and energy to help plan all of the facets necessary for a quality V.B.S. As our V.B.S. has continued to grow, the challenge for maximizing our buildings use has also grown.
Davids vision for this ministry over the next few years is not only that we would touch more children, but that we can cause significant spiritual growth in the lives of our children who already attend every year. Although many of us might not realize it, everyone at Mount Juliet has a talent that can help with some aspect of V.B.S. Whether it is helping with the outside display (which has drawn many children to our V.B.S. over the years), decorating classrooms, leading children from station to station, teaching a class, serving refreshments, building crafts, or even simply picking up trash after a busy V.B.S. morning has concluded, there are several ways you can be involved. David shared how this ministry has affected many families. He remembered how exciting it was to see families become members of this congregation after their children attended V.B.S. during the summer. Working in this ministry has also made a difference in Davids life. He stated, We have a mission field right here in Mount Juliet. With dedicated people, we can change Mount Juliet! If you would like to be part of that change, please read the section below. Even if you have never participated in V.B.S. before, we want you to find a way to help!
Help Wanted
This summer, we will need teachers, volunteers to assist in classes, leaders to take classes from one station to the next, individuals to help with crafts, refreshments, and registration. Before the week, we will need painters, designers, wood-workers, and anyone else who is willing to help build sets and decorate classrooms. If you want to help, just ask; there is plenty of room for extra volunteers. If you would like to help this summer, there will be a meeting on March 6th, at 4:45, in the Fellowship Hall. At this meeting, we will review the format for V.B.S. this year and try to match up volunteers with positions. If you cannot attend this meeting, please let David know.
