"And I Was Afraid"
by David Fleming
How many times in our lives have we said, or at least thought about being afraid? And, it's not always the BIG fears but sometimes the little fears that give us a problem. If we reflect on the "fears of our lives," in our present wisdom, we see that most were groundless. The things we didn't do, or didn't think we could do; many times we could have and possibly should have.
I would like to refer you to the parable of the talents, Matthew 25:14-30; in particular the one talent person. He seemed to be as capable as the others, however, he needed an attitude adjustment - he let fear take over and rule. Because he refused to do what he could -- he is called wicked and lazy -- but so very little was required of him.
Perhaps, in confronting our fears, we should let our hindsight be foresight and say to ourselves, "If I can do this today I won't regret it tomorrow and if I fail, I will have tried."
Remember the attitude of Galatians 2:20 -- "I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." And, Philippians 4:13 -- "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
