Education Ministry

This week, our �Ministry Spotlight� features our Education Ministry. (Just a reminder to our deacons, when you have finished your Ministry Spotlight Surveys, just put them in the same boxes in the foyer as the Family Spotlight Surveys. We need everyone�s input to continue this feature of our bulletin!)
Andrew Phillips, our Education Minister, and his wife Kathryn have been with this congregation for almost two years, and he feels that is has stimulated him spiritually in a way he never would have imagined The function of our Education Program is contained in its mission statement - �to teach the entire word of God in a manner that all students may understand and rightly divide the word of truth while growing closer to God.� Over the next few years, Andrew envisions an Education Ministry in which our children�s classes will effectively utilize technology in learning, more Adult Classes will exist to meet specific spiritual needs (such as our Single Moms Class), and a waiting list will exist for those who want to teach a class. He believes that our congregation can be a source of information and encouragement for other congregations in the areas of Bible Class curriculum, library resources, and teacher training. Andrew�s favorite story was one Terri Thompson shared at the 2003 Teacher Appreciation Banquet. It has to do with James Beckham - ask her about it! One fact not everyone realizes is how hard our teachers work behind the scenes, but it shows in our class attendance for 2004. Our teachers are doing a tremendous job!

HELP WANTED SECTION:
Andrew always needs individuals who are willing to teach, especially our younger classes, since we have so many little ones. He also stresses the need for substitute teachers that he can call in case a teacher is unable to make it to class. don't forget that our Annual Area-Wide Teachers Workshop is approaching, and that we need people to sign up for helping with set-up, food service, and clean-up. We�ll have several guests, so we all need to be a part of it. If you would like to help, please see Andrew.
