Teen Youth Ministry

This week, our "Ministry Spotlight" is dedicated to our Teen Youth Ministry. Most weeks, this column will be occupied by a deacon and his ministry, but as we begin, we'll start with Phil Waggoner and one of our busiest ministries. The function of our Youth ministry is to help teens grow into leaders of the church, to give them opportunities to serve others and tell their friends about Christ, and to provide them with a group of Christian friends that support and encourage them in their Christian walk. When asked about his vision for this ministry over the next few years, Phil responded, "I hope and pray that we might help all the teenagers to become Christians, to form a rock solid faith in Jesus, to go out to the world and proclaim Christ, and to have a reputation as a group dedicated to God, service, and evangelism."
Phil stated that one fact not many know about our youth ministry is that he is continually in need of volunteers from all over the congregation. As the group continues to grow larger, we need adults that will take an active role in the youth program. One story that Phil remembers from his time here at Mount Juliet was when a large group of friends came in with a couple of our teenagers. One of the adults turned to Phil and asked, "Who are all these young people?" Phil stated that this ministry has made a tremendous difference in his life, saying, "It's given me great joy to see young people who desire to live like Christ and invite their friends to learn more about God."

This section is designed to let you know ways you can become involved in our spotlighted ministry. Phil needs adults who are willing to help with service projects, occasionally teach the youth group Bible Classes, and be involved in retreats and other youth trips.
