New Commandment
by James Whiteaker
Have you seen the family? Sitting in the last pew on a Wednesday night I could see Faye Loyd talking to her grandchildren and all of a sudden she hugged them as if they were as precious as gold.
Michelle Myers was a few rows in front of me holding a sleeping Will as if he were the lightest bundle of precious china. Children have a wonderful effect on all of us. James Keopf loves his new twin. You can tell by the smile when Jameson is on his shoulder. Aaron Jones acts like a 2-year-old around Mikayla.
Did you ever think you would see Ronnie Travis carry a baby? Yet there is Sarah.
Many of you grandparents are rather foolish when the kids are around. Old men stoop over to play that would not stoop over for a dollar bill on the floor. Older women gather around a baby as if it were the largest diamond ring they ever saw.
There is much joy in the family with these little one. Yet these are the same children who cry, whine, pout, throw a fit, write on the wall, and break things in our houses. Yet it never diminishes the love we have for them. We are anxious to see them when they are away. We are fulfilled when they are happy.
I hope for the day when we all have the heart of Jesus and see our family at Mt Juliet as we see our children. When love covers our eyes so that we ignore the hurt that occurs in every family. We are close!
"A new commandment I give you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another." John 13:34-35.
