Christian Kindness
by Bud Lambert
"Love is kind" ( 1 Corinthians 13:4). Everyone in and out of the fellowship of God has the ability to be kind (do good to others); however, the kindness that springs from the rule of God's love in the Christian heart is different. It is unique.
One unique quality of Chtistian kindness is doing good to one's enemies. Jesus says, "If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. If you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that, And if you lend to those frbm whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to thein, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked, Be merciful as your Father is merciful" ( Luke 6:32-36).
As those who profess to be Christians, let us display Christian kindness in our lives. Doing good to those only within our little circle of friends or to those whom we know will repay our goodness or to those whom we know will thank us our goodness is not necessarily Christian" kindness.. Christian kindness is doing good to our enemies. It's not natural nevertheless, If we let God's love rule our hearts, God can and will enable us to do it.
Exercise:
1. Write down the names of seven people.
2. Beside each name write down one good deed you know you could do for that person.
3, Then each day this week, taking one person a day and expecting nothing in return, be kind and do your good deed that person, remembering this: "Then your reward will be great, and you will be the sons of the Most High..." ,
