Salvation
by Tony Huddleston
Jesus came to the earth for the purpose of saving the lost ( Matthew 18:11, Luke 19:10). That is also the mission of the church.
It is apparent that the church here at Mt. Juliet is concerned about the lost. You demonstrated that last Sunday by contributing to the missions program! This money will be used both locally and in our foreign missions. We are truly blessed by this outpouring of love and concern for the lost. The elders offer our thanks to each and everyone of you.
To God be all the glory!
In Paul's letter to the Romans, he stated, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first and also to the Greek". ( Romans 1:16)
The most important goal in our lives should be our salvation. Our love for others should also make us desirous that others be saved as well. If you have not accepted Jesus and submitted to his gospel, I urge you to do so today!
Recognizing that we have no hope without Christ, and that he died on the cross for us, submit to his will by:
1. Believing in Him as our Savior. ( Acts 16:3)
2. Repenting or turning away from past sins. ( Acts 3: 19)
3. Confessing belief in Him. ( Romans 10: 9-10)
4. Being immersed in water to wash away sins and add you to His church. ( Acts 2:38; Acts 22:16)
5. Living your life daily in His service. ( 1 John 1:7; 1 Corinthians 15:58)
We must obey all of His plan and not just parts of it. Jesus said in John 14:15, "Ifye love Me, keep My commandments".
