Mt. Juliet Messenger
King of the Mountain
by John Thomas
Most all of us have played the game King of the Mountain at one time or another in our lives. It is not my ambition to go through life being the king. It is not my hope to throw others down to show that I am stronger or better. I don't enjoy watching others fail at alL It is, on the other hand, my desire to show the love that Christ has for us, and the confidence that we should have in Him! He makes us victorious. He shares His crown. He makes us Kings of Mountains. That is, He makes us able to move the mountains.
The Psalmist says in Psalms 27:5 "For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion: in the secret of His tabernacle shall I He hide me; He shall set me up upon a rock. "
I can't read this passage without thinking about the feeling you have when you have conquered the mountain (and everything that gets in your way to the top). We first need to realize that we did not get there without some help. Another thing we should understand is what God wants for us. Not the pride of life, but rather the pride that comes: with understanding we serve an awesome God. The understanding that
He makes us more than conquerors, He makes us sons of a King. We should be proud to be His servants. We should have every confidence that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. We should feel the security of a Strong hand holding us; lifting us up! When things
seem to go wrong, we need to remember that God will hide us in a secret place (where harm can't find us). Be confident that He will lift us up upon a rock. We can have the feeling that we are on top of the I world. ..not a part ofthe world.. .On top of the world!... Victory over the world... Victory over death... Victory over sin... Victory over satan... Victory...in Jesus! King of your Mountain!
