Surviving the Suffering
by Pat Hackney
At one time or another we will all experience pain and suffering. The Bible tells us that even good people are not exempt. Jesus was beaten and crucified, the apostles were beaten and persecuted, and the church was scattered. Yet, with God's help things did get better. Jesus was resurrected ( Mark 16:6), the apostles were able to cany the gospel to the whole world ( Colossians 1:23), and the church multiplied in great numbers ( Acts 6:7).
We must not give up in our own personal suffering. There will be victory if we remain faithful. We must never quit. If God be for us, who can be against us ( Romans 8:31). Nothing would please the Devil more than for us to blame God and to pull away from Him.
God intends for us to be "more than conquerors in Christ Jesus" ( Romans 8:37). We can fight back. God has wellequipped us. There are things we can do rather than take misery from Satan. Below are listed some things we should do to overcome suffering:
1) Read our Bible daily.
2) Pray without ceasing.
3) Be thankful and obedient to God.
4) Develop a mind-set like Jesus and look for what good can be brought out of the worst situation.
5) Don't become a victim to Satan and realize life is really a battle with him.
6) Use your experiences to encourage others.
7) Realize that in the end God will bring good out of even our death.
