Have We missed the Dangers of Witchcraft and Sorcery?
by David Shannon
USA Today Books, reviews Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets as "Chambers offers young readers an equal measure of dark wizards, noble mentors, hideous beasts and epic battles of good vs. evil."
Let us be Reminded of Gods Will:
"And don't try to use any kind of magic or witchcraft to tell fortunes or to cast spells or to talk with spirits of the dead. The Lord is disgusted with anyone who does these things... Never be guilty of doing any of these disgusting things!" Deuteronomy 18:10-13 Contemporary English Version (CEV).
"Don't practice any kind of witchcraft... Don't make yourselves disgusting to me by going to people who claim they can talk to the dead." Leviticus 19:26, 31 (CEV)
"I will be your enemy if you go to someone who claims to speak with the dead, and I will destroy you from among my people... I expect you to obey my laws." Leviticus 20:6,8 (CEV)
"You have worn yourself out asking for advice from those who study the stars and tell the future month after month. Go ask them how to be saved from what will happen. People who trust the stars are as helpless as straw in a flaming fire.... These are the fortunetellers you have done business with all of your life. But they don't know where they are going, and they can't save you." Isaiah 47:13-15 (CEV)
"Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; ... witchcraft ... that they which do such thing shall not inherit the kingdom of God." Galatians 5:19-21 King James (KJ)
God identifies all types of sorcery as a work of the flesh which separates the participant from Him and destroys the hope of eternal life with Him. The books may sell by the millions, but they are not child's play! Satan always works through deception (2 Thessalonians 2:9-10). Satan has convinced children and adults that there are good witches. That is a lie from Satan! Many are making light of a practice of the dark-side that God condemns. We must avoid Satan's effort to desensitize us to witchcraft!
