David Burka and his family have been members at Mount Juliet since 1986, and David has been an elder since 2003. He has been married to Melissa for 23 years. David grew up in Knoxville, and he and Melissa lived in Dallas, TX  and Overland Park, KS before coming here. He has been an auditor, office manager, and now works as an accounting manager. Melissa is a teacher, and they have two sons, Scott and Todd. Scott is a Senior at UT, and Todd is a Junior at Freed-Hardeman. When asked what his desire was for the church at Mount Juliet, he said, “ I would desire that each member have an unquenchable thirst for the word of God. Reading the Bible every day will give them a confident assurance of their heavenly home.”

Albert England has been a part of the Mount Juliet family for 31 years, and  has served as an elder for 24 years. He recently retired after working for  40 years with Franklin Brick, while his wife May Ola works as a Teacher’s  Aide at Lakeview Elementary. He was born and raised in Horse Cave, Kentucky,  and attended college at Freed-Hardeman and Lipscomb. He was stationed in San  Antonio, Texas for military service. He and May Ola  have three children: Kerry, who is married to Beverly and lives in KY., Janice, who is married to James Beckham and worships here, and  Judy, who is married to John Bentley and lives in Jackson, TN. Albert and  May Ola have nine grandchildren. His goals for our church family  are, “That  we will each grow in our love for God and each other, that each of us will  remain true and faithful to the Word, and that we live our lives worshipping  and serving Him, as well as reaching out  not only to the community, but  also to the world.”

He met Sue at the Madison church of Christ and they have been married  for 36 years. During DeWayne’s career in the U.S. Army, they lived at Ft.  Sill, Oklahoma and Ft. Bragg,  North Carolina. DeWayne is currently employed  with Cardinal Health in LaVergne, while both he and Sue work as caregivers.  They have one son, Brad, one daughter-in-law, Linn, and one grandchild, Anne  Towles.
