James Beckham grew up in west Tennessee. From 83-87 he studied at Freed-Hardeman University. James married Janice England in 1987 and soon after they joined the Mt. Juliet church of Christ in 1988. James and Janice have 3 children: John, Jessica, and Jennifer. James was appointed as an elder in 2012 and he continues to work for PPG Porter Paints as a sales rep. His most favorite thing about MJCC would have to be, “the love and humility of the congregation.”

David Burka and his family have been members at Mount Juliet since 1986, and David has been an elder since 2003. He has been married to Melissa for 26 years. David grew up in Knoxville, and he and Melissa lived in Dallas, TX and Overland Park, KS before coming here. He has been an auditor, office manager, and now works as an accounting manager. Melissa is a teacher, and they have two sons, Scott and Todd. Scott is a pharmacist in Nashville, and Todd works in Nashville. When asked what his desire was for the church at Mount Juliet, he said, “I would desire that each member have an unquenchable thirst for the word of God. Reading the Bible every day will give them a confident assurance of their heavenly home.”

Randy Duke has been worshipping at Mt Juliet since 2008 and became an elder in 2012. He has been married to Jodie since 1990, and they have two married children, Chet (minister at the Coopertown congregation near Springfield, TN) and Hannah Lee (social worker living in Hermitage, TN). Both originally from Tennessee, Randy & Jodie have lived in Knoxville, Hattiesburg, MS and Old Hickory. Randy attended Memphis State University (BS Biology) and University of Tennessee (MBA) and has worked as a Human Resources executive in two large companies. He currently works as a Human Resources consultant and with the Bear Valley Bible Institute in Denver, CO in training gospel preachers. His desire for the church is what is so eloquently stated by Paul in Ephesians 4:11-16.

Albert England has been a part of the Mount Juliet family for 35 years, and has served as an elder for 28 years. He and May Ola came to Mt. Juliet in 1972. He has been retired 4 years after working for 40 years with Franklin Brick, while his wife May Ola is retired as a Teacher’s Aide at Lakeview Elementary. He was born and raised in Horse Cave, Kentucky, and attended college at Freed-Hardeman and Lipscomb. He was stationed in San Antonio, Texas for military service. He and his family lived in Nashville and worshipped with the Una congregation before coming to Mt. Juliet. He and May Ola have three children: Kerry, who is married to Beverly and lives in KY., Janice, who is married to James Beckham and worships here, and Judy, who is married to John Bentley and lives in Jackson, TN. Albert and May Ola have nine grandchildren. His goals for our church family are, “That we will each grow in our love for God and each other, that each of us will remain true and faithful to the Word, and that we live our lives worshipping and serving Him, as well as reaching out not only to the community, but also to the world.”

DeWayne Griffin and his wife Sue have been members at Mount Juliet for 32 years, with DeWayne serving as an elder for 15 1/2 of those years. “Grif” (as many of his friends call him) was born in Decatur, AL and raised in Madison, TN. He met Sue at the Madison church of Christ and they have been married for 38 1/2 years. During DeWayne’s career in the U.S. Army, they lived at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma and Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. DeWayne retired Cardinal Health in July, 2006. They have one son, Brad, one daughter-in-law, Linn, and two grandchildren, Anne Towles, 4 1/2 years old, and Wright Andrew, 1 month old. Concerning God’s family here at Mount Juliet, DeWayne hopes for “peace, unity, and salvation for every soul.”

Pat Hackney has been a part of the Mt. Juliet congregation all his life and has been an elder for 19 years. He is a life-long resident of Mount Juliet. He and Carole have been married for 33 years. They have two daughters who live in Nashville, April and Angela. April is a Manager for Ernst & Young. Angela is married to Derek Bell and is a kindergarten teacher for Metropolitan Nashville. Pat spent 29 years of his teaching career at Friendship Christian School, leading the school as Headmaster for 13 years. He is now a Math teacher at Wilson Central High School. Carole works as one of our church secretaries. As he thinks about the Mount Juliet church, he desires “that they all remain faithful and be with me in Heaven one day where we can glorify God forever.”

Tony Huddleston has lived and worshipped at Mount Juliet for 20 years, and has been an elder for almost 9 years. He was born in Dodge City, Kansas, and has lived in several Middle Tennessee locations, such as Old Hickory, Livingston, Madison, and Nashville. He and Pat have been married for 36 years, and have two children, Daniel and Rebecca. Daniel lives in Saga, Japan and teaches English as a second language to junior high school students. Rebecca lives in Ewa Beach, Hawaii with her husband, Capt. Brad Rudder (U.S. Army) and is currently teaching first grade. Tony has served in the military, and has worked 36 years in computer programming. Pat works as a secretary in the church office. When asked to give his desires for the family here, Tony responded, “sound doctrine, peace, unity, and love among all those at Mt. Juliet and salvation through Jesus Christ.”

Dennis Nosal and his family have been members at Mt. Juliet since 1997. Dennis has been married to Judy for 26 years and they have one daughter Audra Anne. Dennis grew up in Dallas, TX and Judy grew up in Mt. Juliet. Dennis came here to attend David Lipscomb University and decided to stay in Middle TN. He met Judy at Donelson Church of Christ and that is where they were married. Dennis works at HCA as an accountant and Judy recently retired as a teacher in Wilson County. She continues to teach the 18-24 month olds on Sunday morning. Audra Anne is a student at David Lipscomb Campus School. When asked what his desire was for the church at Mount Juliet, he said, “That we grow spiritually every day longing to hear those words, ‘well done thou good and faithful servant.”

Hoyt Smith began serving as elder on January 7, 2007 and has worshipped at Mt. Juliet since 1984. Hoyt was raised in Donelson, TN and spent 1 1/2 years in Japan with his family on special work assignment with his employer, Nissan North America. He and his wife Laura have been married 23 years and have two children. Matt is an engineering student at Tennessee Tech University and Jennifer is a senior at Wilson Central High School. Hoyt attended Tennessee Tech University where he earned his Mechanical Engineering degree and is a Project Lead Engineer at Nissan where he has been employed for 18 years. Laura is a Special Education Teacher at Stoner Creek Elementary School. When asked to express his desire for the family at Mt. Juliet, Hoyt replied, “my prayer is that we grow in our love for the Lord and for each other.”

James Whiteaker has worshipped at Mount Juliet for 18 years, and has been an elder since 2003. James was born and raised in Cookeville, TN. He and Katy have been married for 31 years. Katy grew up at the Old Hickory and Hermitage Church of Christ. They have lived in McMinnville, TN, Tullahoma, TN, Ashville, NC, Union City, TN, Mt. Juliet, TN, and now Lebanon, TN. James has worked in the administrative department of the Social Security Office for 31 years. Katy works as a teacher in the SEEK program for the Wilson County School System. They have two sons, Ja and Berek. Ja is married to Casey, and they live in Lakeland, TN while Berek is a student at Cumberland University in Lebanon. The primary desire James has for the people of Mt. Juliet is that we will all “experience the joy of serving God.”
